Shockwave Therapy in Lehi, Utah
Shockwave therapy at our Lehi office uses SoftWave® technology to deliver acoustic waves through a handheld applicator to the treatment area. It is a noninvasive treatment option that may be considered as part of a broader plan for selected muscle, tendon, joint and other soft-tissue concerns.

What it is and why we use it
Care With a Specific Purpose
A clinician applies gel to the treatment area and moves the applicator across the tissues while adjusting the intensity to your tolerance. The device delivers pulses of acoustic energy through the skin.
This is not an adjustment, injection or surgery. It is also not appropriate for every condition. We discuss realistic goals, alternatives, cost and response before recommending additional sessions.
For active patients and athletes, shockwave therapy may be discussed as one part of a broader treatment or rehabilitation plan when appropriate. The goal is not simply to treat a painful spot, but to consider the condition, activity demands and what is needed for a safe return to training, sports or recreation.
What Is SoftWave®?
SoftWave® is the shockwave technology used in our office. The device generates acoustic pressure waves that are delivered through a handheld applicator to the treatment area. SoftWave's OW100S device has FDA clearances for specific uses, including activation of connective tissue, temporary increase in local blood circulation and relief of minor muscle aches and pains.

Safety first
When We Modify or Refer
Shockwave therapy using SoftWave® technology has important contraindications and precautions. Tell us about pregnancy, cancer, blood-clotting concerns, anticoagulant medication, implanted devices, recent injections, infection, open wounds and altered sensation. We will determine whether treatment should be modified, postponed or avoided.

Is SoftWave® the same as an adjustment?
No. SoftWave® uses acoustic energy delivered through an applicator; it does not manipulate a joint.
How many sessions will I need?
There is no universal number. Recommendations depend on the condition, response, goals and whether the therapy remains appropriate.
Does it hurt?
You may feel tapping or tenderness, especially over a sensitive area. Intensity can be adjusted throughout the session.
Is SoftWave® the same as shockwave therapy?
